I am 20 years old and i have alopecia totalis.6 months back i lost my hair on the scalp completely. Before that I have patches on my scalp. These patches were first found whrn i was 5 yrs old.Since then after every medication the patches will be covered and new patches in another site of scalp will be founded.I was vexed with all the treatments and don't have energy to take new medications.I don't like to be bald.I want my hair back. What should i do?
I agree with you! Don't just accept it. Losing your hair quickly and drastically is a symptom. I was in your shoes last summer - extremely depressed and feeling alone. I asked to be referred to an endocrinologist and she immediately put me on B12, vitamin D and HRT (I am 58 years old).I have osteomalacia. My body hair is slowly growing and my scalp hair has grown significantly in the last 3-4 months. I also have hypothyroidism and I suspect malabsorption issues. Last summer, I wanted to die. This summer, I am hopeful and grateful that I have found a wonderful doctor!j
Hi Vamsi
So sorry that you are going through this. I have Alopecia Totalis and I lost my hair and eyebrows very quickly and it is such a hard thing to come to terms with. I never thought I would say this but everyday is getting better because I am becoming stronger in myself. Yes I have still have days where I cry and get so angry and frustrated as like you I want my hair back as do we all. However there are some great wigs out there that do look very natural. My advice would be to go to a good wig salon and try them all on and find what is right with you. I wear a freedom wig and as I have no hair the security is great - you can do everything and as I have been wearing it for a while I don't even notice I'm wearing anymore and sometimes when I'm out and about I forget i even have alopecia. More recently I was in a canoe and the boat capsized and it miraculously stayed on even though I was immersed in a fast current.
You are going to feel awful and down about it all but we have all been though and I will never let this horrible disease beat me. Look after yourself
hello sweety I am 61 and fighting along time with patches and finally decided to shave everything off. I feel liberated!
