My dad and I both had full heads of hair until I was 13. We both started getting bald patches the same year. Mine appeared a couple months after his. Every year I would get the steroid injections and my hair would come back (until my senior year in high school). Every year my hair would stay put until fall/winter and then it would start falling out again in small patches. I would just like to hear some opinions. Do you think it's just a coincidence or is it possible that my dad and I carry a gene that the rest of my family members don't and maybe we were exposed to something that triggered this? We've always thought it was weird that he didn't get it earlier in life and we both got it at the same time. I think we have the same blood type also. I will ask him tomorrow. :)

Any move to a new drinking water source, pet, family-wide stressor? Otherwise, read these:

Thank you Tallgirl :) no new water source. We had well water and lived on the same property my whole life. No new pets that we weren't used to. We had horses, beef cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, dogs, cats, fish, rabbits and I even had a ground squirrel that I saved from my cat when I was a lot younger but nothing new around the time we started losing our hair. As for stress... My dad and I are the calm ones lol. We don't stress as much as my other family members and nothing significant was going on that could have stressed us out. My grandma has always said that the government was dumping something from the air by where we live lol (who knows if that's a valid claim) we do live near the Nevada test site I guess, but if it was something like that, I'd figure more people in this town would be affected. I have to rule out the possibility that we were exposed to some creepy mutant gas like "the hills have eyes" haha. I just wondered if it's weird that we both got it the same year.
