Just venting ☺

I found a 6cm bald spot a few days ago. I have just been to see my GP who asked if I am stressed. I said "yes but no more than normal" and he said " don't worry, it usually grows back..." and that was it! He has agreed to send me for some blood tests; needless to say I will hope I can see a different doctor when I go for the results....I feel that I am coping ok with it so far although it's only been a few days. My best friend has been very supportive but my mother is driving me mad already with "there are things I need to say to you" type stuff and telling me she loves me which she never does. I am now looking forward to the guys I work with coming back so that I can tell them about it - I think I will almost enjoy it if I get a look of shock ;-) I am glad that I have found this site as I know it is going to be of enormous importance to me over the coming months. Welcome to AW.

This sounds like a typical GP reaction. They don't have a clue what causes this so you'll be put on some NHS waiting lists for a dermatologist who also doesn't really have a clue. Some GP's/derms can also be totally insensitive as to the psychological effects of hair loss. I finally got some steroid cream after 3 very anxious months waiting for an appointment.

You sound like you're dealing with it well so far. I hope that it's just a small blip for you. You've come to the right place for support. I don't know how I would have coped without AW.
