Seems to me we need to come up with some uplifting songs as therapy. Some of you have found great ones for your profile pages, but there isn't one place to collect them all. I wonder if we can list some of the songs that saved us, gave us hope, reassured us, etc. and see if rj and Cheryl can come up with a way to click on them as we do with photos and videos. If not, we can always Google the You-Tube videos or recordings.

I'll start with six:

Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying (Gerry and the Pacemakers)
(Hey, my AA showed up even before this song was on the radios in the USA!)

Bridge Over Troubled Water (Simon and Garfunkel, Clay Aiken)

Don't Rain on My Parade (Barbra Streisand, Lea Michelle from Glee)

A Whole New World (from Aladdin)

Just the Way You Are (Billy Joel. Love the sax as well as the words!)

Foo Foo (Santana. Makes me want to dance! Click on Shaman album cover or Athens concert in 2009 for best sound.)

Your turn. What did you listen to THAT HELPED when alopecia first showed up or was at its strongest?
Leave out the sad stuff...I am thinking of fun, hopeful or loving songs. Reassuring songs.

You can also rip cd's on your computer for your listening pleasure and then add them on your profile page. I use media center.

Huh? You forget how OOOOOOOOOLD I am! How do you RIP a CD?
Comment by Petra on August 13, 2010 at 2:30pm
HA HA you can't be that old :-) . Most computers have a media program called windows media player. In order to rip a cd put a cd into your computer and there should be a windows dialog box. Open it and it will ask you what you want to do. Ripping a cd should be one option. If it isn't than opening media player is an option, so do that and then there is a tab that says rip and follow instructions. Hope this works for you......I had to get my own set of instructions from my husband when I started doing it :-)

I am thinking of putting only one song on my page, but can't decide what that ONE song should be that would speak my soul...or put everyone in a good mood...or be irreverent...hmmm...choices, choices. And, I do NOT own CDs of all my faves. We are talking vinyl here...ever hear of a RECORD?

Oh Yeah, I still have a few, even have a turntable. I still play them on occasion. My husband just shakes his head, he hates the sound...you know the scratchyness (?) of them. Hey, remember 8 track players?
Only one song, that would be hard with so much to choose from.

Never had an 8-track, and even those are fading from yard sales. Maybe my song should be, if I had to pick one with a female voice, Don't Rain on My Parade. I felt it more, however, when I was in my art career!

Don't tell me not to live, just sit and putter.
Life's candy and the sun's a ball of butter!
Don't bring around a cloud to rain on my parade.
Don't tell me not to fly, I simply got to;
If someone takes a spill, it's me and not you.
Who told you you're allowed to rain on my parade?
I'll march my band out, I'll beat my drum...
And if I'm fanned out, your turn at bat, sir,
At least I didn't fake it. Hat, sir...
I guess I didn't make it!
But whether I'm the rose of sheer perfection,
A freckle on the nose of life's complexion,
The cinder or a shiny apple of its eye...
I gotta fly once, I gotta try once,
Only can die once, right, sir?
Ooh, life is juicy, juicy and you see,
I gotta have my bite, sir.
Get ready for me love, 'cause I'm a "comer."
I simply gotta march, my heart's a drummer!
Don't bring around the cloud to rain on my parade!

I'm gonna live and live NOW!
Get what I want, I know how!
One roll for the whole shebang!
One throw that bell will go clang,
Eye on the target and wham,
One shot, one gun shot and bam!
Hey, Mr. Arnstein, here I am ...

I'll march my band out, I will beat my drum,
And if I'm fanned out, your turn at bat, sir...
At least I didn't fake it. Hat, sir!
I guess I didn't make it.
Get ready for me love, 'cause I'm a "comer"!
I simply gotta march, my heart's a drummer.
Nobody, no, nobody, is gonna rain on my parade!
