Okay, I just got back after a very long wit at the doctor's office. It was so nerve-racking sitting there wondering what the doctor would say. Anyway, SURPRISE Ramsey has ALopecia Areata. The darm. said she would work witht us and the insurance, so I am hoping she will after I start seeing diagnosis codes and bills.

I don't know what others have experienced with the docs, but this is what ours said to us. She orderd all the appropriate bloods tests and said that Ramsey passed the strand test. She pulled at the hairs around the spots and they were firm. That is good. Since Ramsey has had two other spots that have grown back (granted it took over a year for those spots to start growing back), she said her prognosis is good. She told me Ramsey has about a 1% chance of losing all of her hair.

I am hopful today, but still worrried. I know this disorder is very unpredicatable. Ramsey told me today for the first time since this started that she is sad about her hair. I hope the doc is right. Oh and she said we'll try the steriod cream twice a day for three months, and if I see any more spots or it wosrens, time for steriod shots.

ANother thing she said is that vitamins will prbably not help at all -so dont worry about her taking them. Ramsey has been taking Zinc supplements with a multi. I am going to get the Biodin and start that anyway.

Glad to hear you have some results! Probably not what you wanted to hear but something none the less.Good luck to you and Ramsey and I hope things are going well for you. We don't get to see our dermatologist until the 30th.
