I called my health insurance to see how it works for them to pay for a wig for me. They said I make an appointment and the doctor prescribes me a wig. Does anyone know if there is like a specific list of places I can choose from or can I get it from anywhere? If I can get it from anywhere, I'd like to get the best wig possible. I do have hair that's like 1/2 inch thick so any suction wigs will probably not work.

Jennie:  My insurance pays for one piece a year, with a note from a doctor verifying I have alopecia (and am not buying this wig for cosmetic purposes).  There is a limit to what they will pay. Ask your insurance company for the AMOUNT they allow or will cover. . I have great coverage: 80% of $1,500 per year.  This fight for insurance coverage has been fought before. Some policies lists "limbs" being covered. Then there was this discussion " is hair a limb?"  Why will they pay for a new breast (after cancer/masectomy) which is just for LOOKS, and not pay for HAIR?  I fought this battle with my insurance company a long time ago... and I won. Also, the  NAAF site has good info about insurance coverage.
