I need some advice I have now been suffering from alopecia for 3 years my condition has been up and down. But now im at a serious state my hair wont stop falling out and its getting to the point where im going to have none left. I'm scared of losing all my hair and being bold at the age of 16 I just need some advice on what to do and if there are any treatments out there that can help me. Most of the time I just feel like locking my self away and but I know I have to put on a fake smile and keep being me.

Any help I would be much grateful for.

Hi Jade - So sorry to hear that this is happening to you. Are you seeing a dermatologist? They can prescribe treatments that may be helpful - cortizone injections, topical solutions, etc. Unfortunately, the unpredictable nature of Alopecia makes it really difficult to treat. If you are concerned about your appearance, I'd recommend looking into wearing scarves, hats, or wigs - or even rocking a bald scalp! - whatever makes *you* feel like yourself. It wasn't until I shaved off what was left of my hair (about 20% of my long, gorgeous curls) and got a wig that I felt like myself again. Wearing a wig was a big adjustment, but I'm so much happier with my appearance, it has made the stress of alopecia much easier to manage. www.voguewigs.com has really great choices, and there are lots of customer reviews to help you make a decision. I see you're in the UK - so maybe reach out to some support groups in your area for more advice. For me, the hardest part was the shedding stage, which is where you are now, so I give you all my sympathy. Hang in there, keep shining, and take care of your self.

hmmm that's the problem that I am having  atm I am just watching my hair fall out. I would say 90% of my hair has fallen out with in just over 3 weeks. I just don't think I have to guts to shave it all off -.- , such a hard choice to make. Did you find it hard shaving what you had left off ? because you wouldn't of known what you would of looked like x

your right there about the scary bit because I looked really rough and untidy with all this hair. But now I have shaved it off I looks so much better but I did save a small part of hair to use as a fringe when I wear a scarf x
