I am new to this site but dealing with AA for about half my life (25 years). My AA has suddenly acted up and I have lost more than 50% of my hair. I wear a headband but even then, my spots sometimes show. I was on prednisone for a while, which helped, but my doctor kept reinforcing what I know is true - that is not good to stay on that for long so I stopped. Well now I am trying squaric acid with no effect yet. I am sometimes just so embarrassed to wear head scarves and to know my spots are showing. I know I need to probably get a wig but so hard to cross that line. Any advice for someone new to major loss and thinking about a wig?

Just go try some wigs on with an auntie or someone accepting your condition (and able to buy a gift or contribute...heh heh!). You may be surprised at how much more confident you will feel about your image, and how easily a good wig can let you slide through life, outings and career.

Have you tried the natural and holistic route? I only suggest this route, because it has given me results. After two years of trial and error- I have my hair and health!  (Thank the Lord and the Heavens) and am now on a mission to help others too. I have posted on my IG account, (same name) with so many articles about people doing treatments, meds, and all with no results or horrible side effects that have led to other illness and issues. I wrote a book and researched so much and am please to share that my client also see results. Try going holistic. It will take time, but your body will heal from the inside out. Don’t ever expect overnight success. No pill will give you that, bu rest assured, mother nature and natural healing has no negative side effects. Wishing you all the best. www.alopeciaangel.com for more info, pictures, testimonials, my story with pics and much more!

Thank you, Tallgirl and Angel. I did get a wig and am getting used to it. I  am on an elimination diet to try to identify any possible triggers and will look at your book. Thanks.
