Hello

I am new to this support site, but not new to Alopecia Areata. I have had Alopecia for 7 years, but this is the first time that I may actually need a wig. I am so stressed every morning pulling out handfuls of hair. I am no hesitant to make that step. I just don't want everytone looking at me noticing I have a wig on. I am taking Methotrexate - anyone tried this treatment?

Hi BMG and welcome.
I was where you are now, a couple of years ago.

I still remember the fear I felt, and please know that you are not alone. At this point I did go and get a wig, and yes people that see you every day will notice. Im not going to deny that. One day thin hair, next not so thin. But if you own the look, and hold your head in confidence, no one will notice the wig, just your confidence. (even if you have to fake your confidence, which I have done many times) I use to give, and still do, give myself pep talks while getting ready in the morning for work. It does help. And dont get upset with yourself on the bad days, just know that it will pass.
