To all ... stocking stuffers bring the most unusual gifts. The gifts are small in nature - don't cost much - and sometimes can be quite amusing! In mine this year I had several CDs that, as it turned out, came from the clearance isle at Wal Mart. Good enough! I love it actually. The music is from rock groups of long ago.

On my way home from work today, I opened one up and popped it in. Ahhh yes! The sound of music! Song 1, then 2, and on and on, and I remain amused at each one that brought back memories. Then song number 5! It is not one that I have ever heard in recent times from this so famous of a group; it has quite a different sound! Different you say? It's a tuba playing solo Jazz! I find myself getting into this! My foot starts to tap, my hand tapping on the steering wheel also! And then here comes the drums, now we have rhythm! Now trumpets! My imagination takes over and each note that comes from the magical speaker is alive as if a Disney cartoon is displaying notes of bright colors being placed on a blank music sheet! Red! Yellow! Blue! Green!

I find myself so happy! This is really good stuff! I certainly hope people do not notice me. It may appear that I am dancing in the driver's seat! After 6 minutes the song ends to my disappointment just as I pull up to the garage! I am smiling and after a day of great accomplishments I have a surprise heart beating toe-tapping song played for me straight from my stocking stuffer!

On this day and whom ever may read this silly blog I hope that you received a kind word from a friend, maybe a surprise email from someone you have not heard from is many years, or perhaps, just perhaps, you might be as fortunate as I .... a song of joy from the clearance isle!

Lifes joys come in small packets .......

Ah, how good and pleasant it is to be surprised by joy! :-) What's the name of the song? I'd love to hear it, too.

Maygensmom and rj .... Not a problem and sorry for just now having time to respond. This goes way back … to the glory days of getting my Maters degree. As you may know every class has a group project which can be fun or a real drag. I found myself being very fortunate (actually blessed is the better way to state) when, during my very first class, four unsuspecting students found each other. We had a group! High achievers? Probably :) ==>?!?! But during one of our after class brainstorming sessions, one of the professors came up to our group and said “You put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in every assignment!” He went on to say that there was a group by the same name and had some of the old songs. From that point on we were known as the blood, sweat, and tears group. haha In 2005 we all graduated and said our goodbyes. Two have moved away for better jobs and two of us remain in Tyler. If it were not for those friends, I am not sure any of us would have made it! We had two engineers (math skills), one had finance, and another was a nurse. We stay in touch but not near as often as we should.

Fast forward to Christmas 2008! You can imagine my amazement when there was a gift in my Santa stocking from a glorious past ………. And that song you ask??? Group – “Blood, Sweat, and Tears – Extended Versions”; Song Title - “One Room Country Shack” It truely makes you smile!!

Sweet memories!
