Well it has been 3 months since I spotted my first bald spot. Im happy to report that the spot is growing back. However with one growing back two more started. I was a little sad at first but bounced back quickly.
Then I just happened to go to the dentist a week ago for a checkup and after them taking an x-ray they found I had a massive infection in my jaw. Very strange as my jaw was not swollen my teeth didnt hurt. I had a little crack in one of my teeth i did not know about in the back and a bit of enamel missing on a few others. Apparently this is all where the infection orginated. They put my on steroids and antibiotics. The kicker..it is causing my alopecia! As the doctor and dermatologist explained to me that when there is a massive infection the body turns on itself (fancy way of saying there is an overload of white blood cells that just happened to migrate to my hair folicles and attack!)
I looked it up and sure enough there is a strong correlation between dental health and some alopecia. So the game plan is to get the infection under control and fix those teeth. Oh wait..$6,000 and no money to fix my teeth. Kind of a sad point for me trying to figure out how to fix that problem but atleast I know what is causing the hair loss. With the steroids my hair is starting to fall out less and my jaw is actually hurting. Which I am taking as a good sign that the infection is draining.
Now im not as worried about my hair but a little bit worried about the concept of my body turning on itself and attacking other things. Is it possible that other parts..maybe even organs have been effected by this white blood cell count infection? I guess we will see how this pans out.
