I am here to ultimately say, that yes shaving my head was one of the hardest things I have had to do, but I have gained a lot of self confidence since. I no longer want to turn away in the mirror but have never seen myself as beautiful as I do now. My alopecia has motivated me to get more active and healthy in my lifestyle and become more outgoing. Although sometimes, days can be hard and of course firsts are always hard. Your first time shaving your head to start and following, your first time at the beach, first time showing peers your head, running in a track meet, and seeing old friends. I have learned that you do not owe everyone an explanation except yourself. Just continue to live your life and I promise it will get easier. I love wearing wigs and changing up my style. Try to stay positive even when it feels like you are losing complete control over your life.

Couldn't agree more. Taking control by shaving it off was empowering. My real hair wig is great but so is having a bare head.
