Questions..I hope someone can give me some answers..

Hi guys, so I have been struggling with shedding for the past 19 months on and off with hair shedding. My hair is noticeabley thinner and it feels like I am washing so little hair in the shower lately. My eyelashes have started to thin considerbaly and I ALWAYS have lashes all over my face. I still have thme though, so that keeps me hopeful. My question though is that I have been scratching the hell out of my eyes lately and wonder if that means I will be loosing them soon. My head is very itchy as well. Does the itching in the scalp and eyes along with the shedding mean I might be loosing all of my hiar soon? I still loose a lot of hair in the shower and am dreading the day I loose it all, BUT i feel somewhat at peace if I have to do it. This site has brought me stronger beleive it or not and I think I can accept it much easier now had I not found this site a year ago. So, if anyone can help me out and answer my questions or tell their personal experience I would be grateful. Thanks to everyone, and have a great day!

Hello Taline,

If your hairloss condition is due alopecia areata, the itching might very be an initial of the skin reactions against insults from the body's own white blood cells. But, one the most consistent feature of alopecia areata is that there is no inflammatory skin reaction such as no redness and no swelling of the hair loss area. There is a long list of other diseases and condition that might contribute to hairloss and alopecia areata is still considered as part of the bottom list as it is an uncommon autoimmune skin disease. So it is important to rule out other diseases before ruling in alopecia areata.

I hope I answered part of question. Alopecia online support community has been going on for a while, I've have been joining one since 2003, and I have never left seen. Support group just like Alopecia World has certainly been a wonderful site for support and awareness.

Take care and God bless

Thanks to you guys both! I appreciate that. I was diagnosed with AA in 2001, had injections 2 times and never had it again. Then once I had my son 10 months ago hair loss came about ( i knew that was normal) but I kep having very itchy, red scalp with more loss. I was fine until this past april. The itch has been driving me crazy. I feel like I have bugs all over my head. My eyes itch and I lose lashes and i notice my nose hairs coming out a lot too when i blow my nose. The lashes are so sparse , but they are all still there. I don't know! I'm just so lost with this, but again this support is awesome and don't feel as hopeless. Thanks again

Hi Taline
I used to get a tingling in my head at the spots where I would lose hair. It wasn't constant, and it didn't itch constantly. I also used to loose a lot of hair in the shower as well when going through an outbreak. My eyelashes and eyebrows have both come and gone, but they never itched either. This is a wonderful site that has helped me finally accept this condition! Good luck!!
