I've recently discovered a quote while browsing the "alopecia" hashtag on tumblr it read "i am not this hair, i am not this skin, i am the soul that lives within. ever since then i found that this quote is helping me get through rough moments that i like to blame on alopecia. its just friendly reminder that my condition does not define me because physical appearance does not define me although many times it feels as though it does. as a cosmetologist living in new york the fashion capitol of the world i find that you are judged solely on your looks for everything dating, jobs, socializing ...everything. and i can't say i haven't been part of the problem before. we have all been guilty of judging others by their outer appearance and losing all of my hair is what it took for me to realize that i was in the wrong unfortunately. any who this quote will be tattooed on my body one day very soon because whether or not i had alopecia this quote is something to live by because in fact i am NOT this hair i am NOT this skin but i AM the soul that lives within. :) ill blog again soon.
