Hi aja My hair has always been short so when it started falling out and getting bald spots I couldn't cover it so about a month ago I bizzed it I had started wearing a wig all the time.I used the biggest deal on the clipper and it left it about a inch long so now when it come out instead of having all the long stranes it is short but it feels better. So I sau buzz it , I not to sur about shaving, try the buzz first Ann

I tend to leave some hair grown out to 2" under my wigs so it is soft if anyone SHOULD want to touch it when my wig is off. That means that I get the synthetic wigs, not the vacuum ones that require shaving. At my age, I care about looks only a little, because I only have elementary students, co-workers at a school site, and church people or family to see me up close..and they are not in my world to judge me or change my own view of myself. I know who I am. At my age, I am more concerned what a future spouse (a kinder one than my last one) or my grandchild might want to touch on top of my head, so I opt for soft (grandchildren can knock wigs off when hugging). So far, I just trust that my wig elastics will do their jobs and keep my head covered in high winds, especially at recess! (Teachers with alopecia can also fear the wind!)

Please check out the discussion group "Sisterhood of Women Who Shave" if you haven't already seen it. You'll find lots of supportive comments. You can also look at my photos on my page to see how much hair I had left when I finally decided to shave it all off - the best decision for me.

Hej hello, a 4 years ago I had the same problem. Shave it or not. I decided to let my hair a inch long. But I didn't liked the idea of wearing a wig. After wearing it for 6 months, it put it in a box. My hairdresser said I don't have to shave my head. She made clips on my wig. So you don't really have to do it. (in my country)
My hair was grown back. Right now, my hair is falling out again. I know for myself that I never going to wear a wig, I will shave it without a wearing a wig.
loves,
Chantal

Hey Aja! I was torn between those two choices last year when I was about 2/3 bald. I wanted to shave it off, ut my mom wanted me to keep it in just in case it started growing back right away. I think walking around completely bald is prettier than splotchy bald spots, but thats only my opinion. I sat you should. You may feel cleansed after shaving your head. I think you will look pretty anyway. :-) I hope I helped you...

Feel better and know you're not alone!!
