I just read an article on National Bald Out day (because I had no idea there was such a thing). One thing I read annoyed me. The article referred to someone as a "sufferer" of Alopecia. I don't know about everyone else, but I certainly don't want people to think I "suffer" from this auto immune skin disease. I am still a healthy person, I just look different than the average bear. I wake up everyday feeling refreshed and alive. I am in no way "suffering".

I have had my stresses over my hair loss. And I have been damaged. But nothing has been permanent and I just don't think it's fair to say someone "suffers" from their AA. Maybe I'm wrong...I hope I am not. And I hope I didn't offend anyone. Just getting an annoyance off of my chest. ;o)

Bald is beautiful. If you believe it, if you feel it, everyone around you will accept it.

I do think having alopecia sucks--it's not eloquent but it's the truth, although for sure it could be worse.

I think it sucks too. When I hear the word suffering, I associate it with someone feeling sorry for me for some reason or another. Maybe I shouldn't associate it that way...but I certainly don't want someone to feel sorry for me because I don't have any hair. :o)

Wow I totally agree with your blog! I certainly do not want to be referred to as a "sufferer," but rather, an "embracer of the challenges that life brings along." Bald IS beautiful!

yeah I don't much care for pity either, unless of course it causes people to buy me stuff LOL!
