Hey everyone, So I was diagnosed AA on Nov, 2015. i have seen many doctors in the city and none of them have actually helped me. After a long wait, I am being treated by Dr. Brett King from Yale University. On July 8th, i had my first appointment. He wanted me to start taking Xeljanz but i refused to the idea of being exposed to Cancer and other side effects. So he gave me 3 pulses of prednisone of 350 mg that i took 1 day only and it would be good for the whole month.

At the beginning of the treatment it stopped a little not completely and i experienced horrible mood changes. first day of the doses felt very active with anxiety and the following days i would feel so depress and like not wanting to live anymore. I have notice that is this medication since i have never felt this way before. However on the first month i saw some sort of improvement but on the second and 3rd month almost nothing and as side effects besides the mood and depression i felt back pain on my kidneys.

unfortunately, i think i am relapsing right now since i am experiencing hair loss and i am seeing new patches. I have my follow up appointment with Dr. King. on Sep 26th but i already know he will want to try the Xeljanz. Has anyone experienced serious side effects from this med???

I will keep you guys updated on this and if i start taking this medication.

I just received the medication delivered at my door. Prescription says 5 mg twice a day. So, i guess i am increasing the dose. 3 days ago I experience one day where a lost a lot of hair out of nothing. it was just one day and then it stopped. As for now is maybe 5 hairs a day no more than that and is not a month on the medication yet.

will keep posting. Results are good so far.

Hey,

So here is an update of what is going on. It has been more than a month since i started Xeljanz. I have seen regrowth in almost 80% of my scalp as I mentioned in my last post. I have complete lashes, even longer that I used to have. I am also taking vitamins every day, these are: Biotin, vitamin c and e. My hair line is coming back to normal. I stopped using the bandana about a week ago. i am still losing hair. Some days I lose a lot some other not that much. As for my legs and arms, nothing (yay, laser free hair removal). Some hairs are growing white but hey! hair is hair and I want it no matter what.

As for the side effects, 8 days ago I went out with my family to the mall and on our way back home i started to feel like something is bothering my throat. Sat 3am i couldnt sleep so I went to the ER. It was a virus on my throat. Doctor gave antibiotics but he say that i should also try natural things first. I never took the antibiotics but it has been very hard to beat this virus. i can definitily say that it has become way much harder to beat a virus now than before. It's been 8 days and I am still coughing and sneezing but also recovering.

I haven't got my results from the doctor although I already sent it to the dr's office. Other than that I haven't experienced any other effects.

Another update, the cold became severe and had to go for antibiotics twice a day for 10 days. i had to stop xeljanzs until it all clears up. I can definitely feel that my defenses are very low. I remember that I used to recover from colds very quickly. Today is my 13th day with this severe cold. So for now, no more Xeljanz,

Will keep posting once everything clears up.
