I've been using topical steriods for a few months and haven't really seen any difference the next step as per my dermatologist but he also said doing so can leave scars. For those of you that have tried the injections what are your opinions on them.
I have had them done for about 3 years now, yes that is a long time but there are finally results coming in. I also use a dertho cream that was prescribed to me by my dermatologist.
I tried the steroid injections once a month for a few months when I had totalis. I had regrowth at the injection sites, but it was not permanent. I stopped them because it just wasn't working for me, but from what I heard, different people react to different types of treatments. It wouldn't hurt to try it a few times to see what happens.
And if you were wondering, I would get over 50 injections per visit and had no scarring.
Thanks for the info, i think i might as well go for it and see what possible results i might get. I dont mind being bald just dont like having patches, then again all this is still pretty new for me in time im sure i wont mind so much.
I think it all depends on the person. I had them done because my hair started to grow back and I had patches (like you), but then a few weeks later my hair fell out again. I don't know if this has any connection to the shots, or if it was just my hair cycle. They don't hurt, and I didn't have any scarring, so I would definitely try it. If it works, then it's a great option.
i had 2 injections in one spot. the hair grew back. it had started to grow before the injection though, so i'm not sure if the injections really did anything. i didn't have scarring, but i did have indentations in my scalp for months afterwards.
i'd do it again, but those 2 injections cost me $100 out of pocket, and that was with really good insurance. its just not worth it to me.
