Still searching for a group close enough to get together with or at least a friend for Kira. She is up to 80% Hair loss and considering shaving her head. She is alternating between feeling special, and heart breaking sobs because she is different. I wish I could fix it all for her... Friday is her 12th birthday, would that I could make it all better for her as the ultimate gift...

Find support groups at www.naaf.org, or call wig shops and cancer support groups at hospitals to find girls with hair loss in your area.

There are several people in my area but sadly, they do not really make effort to form a group. The tend to just want to "blend" in and just lead their lives. We see them around but I've yet to find a group that actually meets. Years ago there was a group in the Philly area but when I called the "group leader" she said the group doesn't really meet anymore due to lack of interest or distance. CAP might be a better place for your daughter. It would be nice to have a group that got together even if it was to get together socially.

Maybe you could try a pen pal or if your able to Skype or something with someone on here. Ive had alopecia pretty much my entire life , and I decided to shave my head my sophomore year in high school and that was a tough decision for me so i can relate. Im always available to talk to if you or her ever needs it

Thank you so much, I may do that, I will have my husband try and set something like that up :)
