I think stress does have something to do with SOME cases. Not all. When my hair was rapidly falling out more and more..I was going through the most stressful time I ever have even without the hairloss. I was going through issues with my "friends" and my boyfriend at the time..which also led to issues at home.

An example of why I think stress induced my hairloss.
After a full blown out fight with the boyfriend at the time which led to a huge fight with my mom and dad...I woke up the next morning and my, half exisiting, eyebrow was now gone. This is just one case of many. I would find more and more spots the more I got stressed. I had been going to the dermatologist and my appointments with the shots were almost done. I was growing all my hair back..but as soon as the problems at school, with friends, boyfriend, and family started escalating..so did my hair.

So I do believe that stress was an issue with my hairloss..I do not believe it is the case for everyone. Just like hormones are not the case for every woman. Also just like one cure for one person will not work the same for another.

Now when you talk about stress, most people assume that we are talking about mental stress. Stress can also be a time where the body is challenged by an illness (maybe even immunizations), injury or particularly hormonal times like puberty. Stress itself does not cause this to happen but it weakens our immune systems thus it tries to react when there is nothing abnormal to react to so it attacks something it shouldn't like hair, skin or allergies. Alopecia is autoimmune for 4 out of 5 people with it so it makes perfect sense that an autoimmune condition occurs when the immune system is stressed. The hair grows back if and when it feels like realizing that it is ok to do so. Hope that helps! :)
