Thank you all bald girls who posted videos here. I watched them rather often, I became used to see you with your very nice bald heads and finally I tried going out without hiding myself under a scarf or under a wig yesterday. What happened? :) No explosion, no catastrophy, only people who could not any more decide where they had to classify me. I have some rest of hair on the top, but I shaved off all the leaky ugly rest of hair around. So what? cancer? no. Muslim? no. Punk? no... they had to look at me without finding an explanation. OK, that is normal. I would have done the same. But I felt free and sometimes amused (a biker forgot to look where to go...). And that's the only way to show other alopecian girls, that they are not alone. And it's surely good for all the 'normal' people to see someone looking a little different. Life becomes easier... OK, I did not yet go to work like this but I will!
Thanks to Mary and Gail Porter and all the others. Bald is beautyfull.

Congratulations, Christa! Isn't a wonderful feeling to just be yourself? I've found that if we just go on with our lives and act like there's nothing unusual about a bald woman, other people seem to act the same way.

Happy National Bald Out Day - you just started celebrating it early!

HI Mary,
yes, it's great to realise that the main thing is the way you are dealing with it yourself. It will be very interesting to see the reactions of the others... I loved to hear my daughter telling me today that I'm looking nice. The real friends will make no difference, the family will understand, that I really feel better. And the rest of the world can deal with it as they want...
OK, my bald out day was not yet national, only personal, but perhaps I should work on it for France;)
Thank you for your reactions, Lynne, Camille and Lily

Yes, Christa - your personal bald out day was what matters, but definitely think about organizing something in France! My original idea for the National Bald Out (as described in my April 11, 2009 post on the Sisterhood of Women Who Shaved Group) was simply to encourage women with hair loss to give going out bald in public a try - even for just one day.

Rock on, Christa!
