Thinking about trying some hair pieces

So as the days have been going by, the top of my head, toward the back, is pretty much all bald. My mom had the idea I start wearing headbands to try to hold some of the hair in the front to the back, to hid the big spot. Well its all starting to thin out and I saw online these Paris Hilton hair extensions that are connected to a headband. They are not expensive and it looks like they have my color. Has anyone tried these out before, or do you know of a good hair piece? My head is tingling like crazy and itching and I dont want to wear a topper, I know its just going to make me itch and sweat even more. I appreciate any advice at all!!

Hi Tamara, i had a really big patch on the back/top of my head about 18months ago and i looked into hair pieces. i ended up buying some extension which clip in. it's just one piece that has 3 clips so it goes all the way around your head. the false hair is designed so its a net-like structure, giving ventilation to the scalp so you don;t get too warm. i had quite long ones and i had no itching or extra heat etc. i got them from hothair - they're online, and i found the prices quite reasonable considering they last for ages! :D
hope this helps hun

There so much that you can do with extensions...If its just the top patch that need covering and you dont want to spend a lot....i would recommend the extension route....I bought my European Human Hair extension from Sallys Beauty Supply....I`ve also bought extensions from "headkandy" who offer "thicker" wefts of hair...There`s so much you can do... I used to Sew a couple Wefts of hair together...to customize my extensions... I would also blend in and sew in highlights to the wefts.... When i wanted to give my head "a breather/break"....I would wear cute baseball cap which i sewed in extension to the inside of the hat...Also you are able to sew in extension to headbands as well....If you have any questions...just let me know...I`ve was a religious clip in extension girl for over a year....Trick is to play around with it..have fun and think outside the box...hope that helps ;)

Thanks Kathleen! Im going to Sallys when I get off work to check out what they have. I really like the headbands with extensions connected to them, but Im defintiely open for anything. My main problem is the biggest bald spot I have is on the crown of my head, and moving forward into my part, so Im wondering how extensions are going to work with that, since arent they usually added under layers of hair?

The crown of your head is going to be a tricky spot to get covered...you might have to play around with the extension and kinda "customize" them to make it work for you...But looking at your pics..Its still possible to make it work...When my hair was in good shape i was able to wear it down with extensions....as each month went by i had to "adjust/ revamp" the way I used my extension bc "new" spot/weak areas would appeared....The last 6 months of wearing extensions i only used a head band and my hair was always in a ponytail so that i could hide all the spots....You can definalty hide all the top spots if you wear your hair up in a ponytail....Just clip the extension right to the front of your head...1 to 1 half inches from your forehead...the place a cute cloth headbands "over" the place its attached to your head....That way you can pull the hair over your spots.....Play around with them...you`ll find something that works....Just don`t forget you can always buy a long string of hair...cut it to the width you want... sew a couple layers together....Theres soooo much you can do with them....There`s also alot of good u tube videos on it as well....But I feel your frustration... Hiding these stupid spots is frustrating...time consuming and expensive...grr eh ;)

Yeah they have gotten a lot worse since those pictures were taken, and I have cut my hair a lot shorter, just trying to get some volume back into it. Im going to have to get some good headbands, because when I pull back my hair into a ponytail it looks like I have a receding hairline, and Im losing it over my ears now too. It seems every time I find a way to try to wear my hair, a spot decides to fall out in that area. Its VERY frustrating!!

So I cut my hair last night all the way up to my shoulders (well my cousin did) when just last month it was passed the middle of my back. It is definitely a shock, but it has more volume now and looks fuller. I got some clip in hair extentions that were the EXACT color of my hair. My cousin, mom, and I played around with them for a while and found the best way to get them to cover the crown of my head. There are still some spots showing, but the huge one on the crown of my head is now 80% covered, and I dont even feel these clip ons in my hair! Ive had SO many compliments on my hair today as well. I feel a little more like then old me today!!

Im pretty happy with it. Next Im getting the human hair fringe by Jessica Simpson. Its pretty much the perfect thing to cover what I need covered right now.
