I sent this response along to one someone questioning "To biospy or not" ... I think as part of my own therapy to heal from some of the the emotional pain of my Alopecia, it would be helpful to keep some of my responses in "A personal blog" as well, it will help me look back to see the progress that I plan to make from an emotional level. I need the support now more than ever and if I chose to ignore everything I'm feeling, about my condition, (which for me, of course is impossible because the thoughts are obsessive), ...perhaps I will begin to heal as I work to look back on my own journal forming and hopefully this will become part of the healing process for me. BTW...(I hope I'm doing this right...the website is a new and fantastic tool for me;) Any other suggestions as to how to navigate through the website is appreciated as well. I'm just learning...

"To biospy or not"- my response to a member on 11/09
Once your insurance picks up on this procedure, a biopsy certainly can't hurt to have. I guess it gave me a bit more closure, however itcy bitcy that closure was, towards another skeptical diagnois of "Alopethia this, or alopethia that" ( I am convinced that most dermotogists are not very informed about the hairloss overall, nor do they seem to recognize the pain & suffering it can cause us emotionally. I find some to be either insensitive to my condition or uniformed. It frustrates me, so again, any clue that I stumble on across the way, helps me to put together my own puzzle, piece by slow piece... it's becoming a life long challenge that was kicked off quite a few years ago immediately after giving birth to my wonderful son, Michael, now a man.
I would do it in Jan. when you're able. It wasn't really painful for me and therefore that part of it for me was a non issue/concern... it's just one more puzzle piece and perhaps you'll be surprised by the result. Of course in my case, the result was "your normal, it's perfect, nothing life threatening" .. news I've heard a million times before....when I give that sigh of relief/frustration, aggravation, whatever that sign is..but ya never know. I think it's worth the try, not only will you get another piece of the puzzle, but piece of mind! Good Luck!
