I am thinking about shaving what little hair I have left to buy a freedom wig. I have wore synthetics and human hair for the past 3 years but can't seem to find one that will stay in place. This is very important to me because I have small children and we are active. It is not a good feeling to be cruising through wal-mart and feel your hair slipping back from your head. If anyone has experience with the silicone cap I would love to hear from you. Does the hair hold up? My human hair wig has gotten unbelievably frizzy and I just bought it in May of this year. Is it hard to keep your head shaved daily or every other day? Since the silicone won't adhere if you have too much hair.

I have a freedom wig. I bought it some years ago. I still have it but wear another kind of hh wig now. The freedom stays put. The silicone base is fine and is super easy to put on. I wore it constantly for 3 years before having it sent for repairs to the silicone base and wore it for another 2 yrs after that. The hair stayed soft with plenty of movement. Some say it is hot to wear and it is in summer but I think all wigs are hot in summer. It can feel like a helmet but once you wear it for a while you don't notice it. Hope this helps.

Thanks Pat. That is very helpful. I am also looking into the Follea wig. What brand of HH do you wear now?

Thanks for the input Rose Marie. It always helps to hear other opinions and I am just concerned because it is so expensive of course if it will last at least 3 years that would be great. I have quite the collection of wigs but still searching for one that will stay in place. Thanks so much.

Cindy, I have a Follea Gripper Sport and I NEVER wear it now that I have my Freedom vacuum. There is no comparison at all. The Gripper to me looks wiggy and my Freedom looks like me. I say spend the extra money and buy a custom vacuum. I would love to have my money back that I spent on a Gripper and buy another vacuum. It makes me sick to think I wasted that much money on a wig I don't even wear!! I hope this helps. I think you should at least setup an appt to talk to a rep - once you do you will be sold. I have to also add that when you or if you buy a Freedom vacuum it's a process of cutting and styling to make it look like you. I found a stylist that had the experience with vacuums and she helped me pick out my color and length and then we took baby steps cutting and styling it. We have also hi-lited - it's great! Good Luck!

Just wanted to add, if you feel lost in the process of selecting color choice for your vacuum, it took so much stress off me finding a stylist to help. :)

Thanks Leslie Mader, that does help a lot. Exactly what I needed to hear. I have accepted the fact that I will need to shave my head, but my husband hasn't. I don't wear wigs usually when I am home relaxing. So I think he may be concerned about that. I am actually thinking it will be kind of cool. Thanks for your input. Cindy

Hi Leslie Mader, do you feel the wind through your vacuum? Have you had to have repairs? How long have you had it? Just a few questions for you. Cindy

Hi there

I used to wear synthetics but they were sooooo itchy and uncomfortable,, especially as I have excema too. I got my first Freedom Wig about 5 years ago now, and it is still in great condition. I have a couple that I alternate but will never wear anything else. They are so comfortable that I forget I have it one half the time, and no one at my office even knows they are wigs. The best thing is the security, I had the same problem with little kids pulling my hair, and also really windy days in the city used to be a nightmare, but honestly now they don't even bother me. Certainly from me I would recommend it would be a great choice.

I shave my head about twice a week. It's not difficult once you get used to it. I use the clippers first, then I use shaving cream made for sensitive skin, and a good (5 blade) razor. Then, I use a small amount of shea butter so that my scalp doesn't dry out. I have always worn high quality synthetic wigs with wig caps. As for swimming, I don't, but if I did, I would wear a wig cap and a very nice swim cap.
