I am thinking about shaving what little hair I have left to buy a freedom wig. I have wore synthetics and human hair for the past 3 years but can't seem to find one that will stay in place. This is very important to me because I have small children and we are active. It is not a good feeling to be cruising through wal-mart and feel your hair slipping back from your head. If anyone has experience with the silicone cap I would love to hear from you. Does the hair hold up? My human hair wig has gotten unbelievably frizzy and I just bought it in May of this year. Is it hard to keep your head shaved daily or every other day? Since the silicone won't adhere if you have too much hair.

Shaving is a very personal choice. If you comfortably with giving up on that hair- do it! I shaved mine years ago and eventually it all fell out anyway.

As for your wig, it sounds like your human hair is processed hair. Mine is virgin european hair and i have had it for 2 years with no frizz! It is more expensive, but lasts longer than synthetics so i think it evens out. You have to make sure you use salon quality shampoo and conditioner too! And I think your wig may be slipping because it is poorly fitted or because of your hair underneath it. I have a giant head and my wig is a small. and after a year i took it in to be sized down as the cap had stretched a bit. I find it very comfortable and holds up well all day (even in wind!). I cant even feel it

So maybe you should shave so that your wig can fit better?

as for your family seeing you bald at home- they will get used to it! I lost my hair as a teen and my parents felt very odd about my being bald for a long time (the reminder i guess made them a bit sad about what i was going through). Now they dont even notice if I am wearing my wig or not!

Thanks to everyone for all the great comments. Very helpful. I have made the appointment for sep. 21 to be fitted for a freedom wig. I am so excited, can't wait. Plan to shave what little hair I have left the day before. My husband is on board and doesn't seem to mind if I shave my head.
