Hey AW Friends,

It's been awhile since I've really posted anything about life but today feels like the perfect day to share with all of you. Three and a half years ago I began my journey through night school and weekends to become a Speech Language Pathologist. It's also when I began my journey with my second round of alopecia.

Today I graduate and have found myself I looking back on all of the things I was able to accomplish. It's not easy working full time as a teacher and earning your masters degree at the same time. I sacrificed a lot for this, but I couldn't be happier today. Yesterday, I tried on the cap & gown and couldn't believe how emotional I became. I realized that all my hard work and dedication has officially opened the door to so many new adventures and I did it all while losing my hair.

This moment put a lot in to perspective for me. Three and a half years ago I was crying nightly about the loss of my hair and eyebrow. But last night I cried tears of accomplishment and success.

The moral of my little story is that you can do anything you put your mind to, even with alopecia. I could have let my alopecia consume me and stop me from graduating today. I could have said, I need a break or this is too much right now but I didn't. I didn't let it get in the way of my dreams and you shouldn't either.

Find something you are passionate about and devote your time and energy to that. It helps with the healing process and the day you reach your goal, like I will be doing today, you won't believe how AMAZING you will feel.

Congrats to all the grads this year!!!

I am proud of you, as a teacher. Go treat yourself to a fancy schmancy dinner near the campus. You can hobnob with the other masters (mistresses?) now!

CONGRATULATIONS! You made the best decision, and now you enjoy it. Life is too short to spend it complaining about hairloss.

Congratulations!! That is wonderful. How exciting! I agree... you can do anything that you put your mind to, even with Alopecia. Enjoy your graduation!

I haven't been on here in a while but I just saw this. Congratulations!!! What an accomplishment! It really put things into perspective...enjoy life, pursue your passion, and don't waste life by dwelling on things we cannot control but instead learn to deal with. Your students are so lucky to have you to inspire them! xo
