Hi everyone this is Jennifer, Merari's aunt. I just wanted to share with all of you that tomorrow is a big day for Merari, she will have her first wig consultation. This is a bitter sweet moment for me and I think for my sister Miraida as well.Merari seems to be excited about it! But us big people are still trying to get our heads around this whole thing. You see we just recently started to talk about the idea of Merari possibly wearing a wig. We knew at some point we would have to talk about it. Especially now that Merari has only about 10% of her hair left and some new baby hair growing. I think for me this all became a reality when I heard my niece was being teased at school. A little girl in her class told her she would not play with her because "she had no hair". Merari came home that day very sad and told her mom what had happened. As you can imagine this broke my sisters heart into a million pieces. When I found out this had happened I was sad and even alittle upset. I'm sure most of us can remember being in school and teased for one reason or another...I remember it felt horible. And for a six year old this must be very confusing and even a bit scary. Well after crying and crying about what was going on, I realized crying was not enough and it would not help Merari at all. I called my sister and began to speak to her about different opptions for Merari. This was a very dificult conversation, I could hear the pain in my sisters voice and even some resistance. "It's time we help Merari keep her selfesteen high and always know that she is beautiful with or with out her hair".Continueing to keep our faith in God first, we searched the web for resources and programs that help children with Alopecia. One of the sites found was Alopecia World. It has been of great help and support to us. Threw this page we have talked with wonderful people who have been so informative to us. We now have conversations more openly with Merari about Alopecia. It's important she know what she has and understand it as much as she can. Merari seems to be opening up more about the issue and is excited about the idea she might wear a wig. Please keep Merari in your prayers as she faces a new journey in her life. If you have any information that you think might help Merari in this transition please let us know. It would be greatly appeciated. The more we know the better. Thank you for taking the time to visit Merari's Page.

God willing everything goes well we will soon be sharing with all of you pictures of Merari and her new wig.

Thank you

God Bless

I hope Merari has a positive experience getting her first wig and that she loves wearing it as much as my daughter!! I was sad to read about the incident she had at school. I hope it blows over, but I have told my daughter that if someone does not have anything nice to say her then tell them she rather not talk to them if they aren't going to use nice words. The girl she told that to quickly changed her tune towards my daughter.Give Merari tools to stand up for herself..It will make a world of difference..
