I hope this question isn't far fetched but I've started wearing toppers and it makes my scalp so sore. I feel it pulling at my hair all day and aside from how it looks, I'm thinking about the discomfort. My question is are they supposed to hurt and pull? Surely there is a less painful way to conceal diffuse hair loss. Any input would be great.
Thank you Aimee. I appreciate it! I'm very new to this and have had a difficult time coping, but I'm glad there are supportive people and websites to provide helpful information.
Make sure your topper also covers the crown of your skull and then shake it hard so that it does not fall off and then secure from behind your ears;,then tug at the wig from the base of your skull, cover the places you would allow injections this is where you are feeling cold and this is where your wig needs to breathe in cold climes, in hot weather make sure your scalp can breath so that you do not get a fungus infection on your scalp. you will thank me :) Sharon blount
Thank you Sharon for the informative insight. I appreciate it. That will help as I work through wearing them.
Sincerely,
Kim
I have a "topper" that I absolutely love! I would 100% recommend this company, it doesnt hurt my scalp at all and the hair that I have I feel is a true work of art. The company is called Sherri Renee & Co and you order through one of their salons which I really liked because ordering things this important over the internet gives me such anxiety. I went to Lluminaire Salon in Towson, MD and my expierence couldn't have been better. You go in for a free consultation and they help you custom build the enhancement to fit to your hair! It does take about 6-8 weeks for it to come in after you order it and I think mine came in around 7 but it was worth the wait. When they get it into the salon you come in for an appointment and they cut it in to your hair and make any adjustments you need (all of which is included with the enhancement) The hair is so natural looking and matches my blonde hair exactly! and it also has a breathable silk scalp appearance to it that I love. As far as toppers go I really think this company takes the cake! I believe all of their salons are up in the northestern area, but you should look them up! its sherrirenee.com
Thank you so much Becky...I appreciate it. I just unloaded a ton of money on one through a Hair Restoration Clinic...The owner measured my head, matched the color and length...I waited the ten weeks for it to be made...When I had my appointment recently, I was sorely disappointed. The base was too large and the hair was not my color or length. The lady seemed afraid to cut it. She cut my hair length to the length of the topper. The topper was about 12" and I had about 14-16" of natural hair. Just very frustrating to unload that kind of money and have a horrible return...I'll check into your recommendation...thanks!
you're very welcome! and that sounds awful! They didn't try to do anything about the color? For Sherri Renee even if the order comes in not totally matched to your color they color it for you to match your hair free of charge. and I have very bright blonde hair so they even colored it to have roots in it to make it look more natural
She seemed to think it matched my roots but not the rest of my hair which was odd...I'm glad yours is working for you...I hope I'll be to that peace of mind soon. This has been the roughest thing because I'm a shy person and it's just turned me into somewhat of a recluse....I'm going to keep seeking though; persevering...thanks again Becky..
