Sigh... I've just been looking around on line for wig ideas. I learned which suppliers the local hair places use and look through the catalogues on line. But what I don't ever understand are the price differences. It could be the same brand of wig but the long hair lengths cost less then the required shorter length. Do I buy long then go to a decent hair dresser to cut it? Do I keep looking for a decent priced short length. Man they are so expensive in the UK. I'm also a bit worried about on line buying due to the couple of times I have tried they have been terrible party wigs.

I've been thinking to myself I wonder how much the shop/web site wonders pay for stock... Cut out the middle man so to say and go straight to supplier... I have visions of doing my own site at this rate giving people what I find lacking :) if only hay... Sophia site looks good but seems expensive to ship out to snowy UK :)

I will voice my support to Kathy from galleryofwigs.com. She's a great person to work with. When it comes to the type of wigs being discussed here, if I needed help I would go to Kathy. I order mine online and I have found price ranges all over. Depending on if it's human hair, synthetic, length, cap type, is it a lace front. There is a lot to know. The best bet is to educate yourself. Watch lots of Youtube videos of wig reviews. Even if its not a wig you would necessarily purchase, they all have lots in common so you can learn and see them before buying. It's great. Take some time to get comfortable with all the terminology. It is overwhelming in the beginning. Oh and ask people here!

Personally I have been wearing wigs for 8-9 years :) I have tried various styles/colours, mono, non mono, non-real/real... On a personal note I am just struggling to find myself at the moment, and the hair finding whole business is not helping... I have a lot on my mind, and I think I am using my hair as an excuse to distract myself…. Strangely I often get the impression people distract themselves away from alopecia.

But, I’m kind of glad my random blog post may help others... I, at the moment I am a lost course, my mind elsewhere yet stuck in the debate of real hair or back to fake, cost over standard... If anyone knows of a good UK based web site which you have had personal dealings with, like the galleryofwigs.com then let me know... But for now I will give the old wig a shake and keep on going.

Hi KFlame. I am watching one of the gals on Youtube. By coincidence she has just ordered from a UK site. The wig she has is beautiful. Here is the link to her video and the web site she ordered from is listed below in her comments box.

Hello, all! I am new to the site, but do have plenty of experience ordering wigs online. I used to go to the shop in the mall, Chic Wigs, and from buying there for a few years, went online to Feke Wigs. Since I know the color and the style I like, I just order the same one every time. Plus, online is about half the price of buying from the store.

I agree with Sophia. Kathy is wonderful. You can email her your picture and she will tell you what wigs she things would look great on you. Her prices are the lowest and if you call her, you may have to leave your number because she may be busy with a client, but she will call you back.

I have just come across vacuum hairpieces - apparently there is a company out of NZ. I am trying to find out more information on this - real hair, wear it, shower, swim, do whatever and it won't come off unless you make it come off. I have no idea the cost - I am sure it is expensive as it is real hair. I am uncertain the life expectancy of these pieces. I have stayed away from real hair because the life expectancy has been virtually they same as synthetic and 3 times the price.
