Sigh... I've just been looking around on line for wig ideas. I learned which suppliers the local hair places use and look through the catalogues on line. But what I don't ever understand are the price differences. It could be the same brand of wig but the long hair lengths cost less then the required shorter length. Do I buy long then go to a decent hair dresser to cut it? Do I keep looking for a decent priced short length. Man they are so expensive in the UK. I'm also a bit worried about on line buying due to the couple of times I have tried they have been terrible party wigs.

My advice would be to try on several at an actual wig shop. Then, when you find one you like, find the name on the inside of the wig, and the color, and order it online. I use Feke Wigs. The ones with the mono top are more expensive because it looks like your scalp, not wiggy looking. I always try to get those.
Are you in the UK? I buy all my wigs from www.annabelleswigs.co.uk. I am wearing 'Ella' in my picture, it cost £25! I have reviewed them on my blog if you are interested. (Link on my profile) X
Always have your wigs cut and styled to suit your facial features. It can make all the difference......some of the most inexpensive wigs can look fabulous if they are cut and styled properly, and maintained properly. And it's always good to have at least 3 of the same style so that you can rotate them.
Were you wearing the wig when she was cutting it? I'm sorry...it sounds like a stupid question, but you would be surprised how many people don't.....
Always ask if the person doing the cutting has ever cut a wig before. If they have no experience, it's best to find someone who does.
I was actually in a place that sold wigs and things... and did wigs for NHS etc... I was wearing the wig at the time... So thought wrongly she would know what she was doing :) she said "I will cut a bit at a time and see how you feel" so I agreed as fringe was a little too long, and she cut, and cut and never once stopped to ask if it is short enough, until she decided it was short enough, I couldn't see as was no mirror in front of me... She then passed me a mirror, and asked is that ok. I am suprised I kept calm, agreed yes thats fine, but inside I was thinking no I hate it, but too late by then...
(those reading this please note I have been to a great hair dresser before who did it with a razer and did a great job, just my local one I really do not like)
