Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts on wigs - synthetic vs. human hair? Although I have was diagnosed almost 5 years ago I have lost 95% of the hair on my head in the last 3 months. So I have had to dive into this part of things. I bought a synthetic wig and I wanted to make it look like "my hair" so I got a long one. In less than a month it was 'clumped' and I couldn't brush it. The place I bought it replaced it but within 2 weeks it started again and I had to have it cut. I admit to not knowing what I am doing, but...

I know this is going to have be a permanent thing for me. I wish I could say that I am still holding out hope that my hair will grow back, but I'm not, so I have to take these next steps. So any advice will be appreciated. I don't live in an area where there are wig shops but I don't feel comfortable buying on line or from a place where they are all in packages and hanging on the wall like halloween wigs. I would love to be able to get something that I can put in a ponytail - again, like "my hair."

Thanks everyone!

I have a lace front synthetic and it looks amazing! I wear John Renau, you can find online but I would suggest getting to a wig shop to try on first!

wow her hair is beautiful looks so full. I would always recommended human hair, but the 'virgin' type as it lasts longer and is a lot softer! I can easily tie mine up and it is still in good condition 6 month's after I got it:) xxxx

Thanks everyone. Rosy and Hannah, can you tell me what company you use? There are so many out there that I have seen on line that it is hard to know where to start. The synthetic I have is by Raquel Welch. It is already starting to 'clump' again. Maybe I am doing something wrong?

I went to bloomsburys in London, would highly recommended them. The Virgin hair they sell is excellent quality and there all really caring and knowledgeable there x

I live in the US - on the east coast. Anyone have any suggestions of places to go or go through on line?

I have purchased wigs from the following website...

Good prices and good customer service! I prefer synthetic, but that is my choice. I think each person has to find what works best for them. I like the "plop & go" as we like to call it with synthetic. I get bored easily so I like being able to afford many synthetic wigs instead of just one human hair. There are good and bad with both so you just have to find what is best for you. Is the Raquel Welch heat resistant? My biggest advice is to not use a comb/brush! Try to get out the tangles with your fingers. I've been doing that for a long time. And... the other big factor... the longer the wig, the faster that it will "clump". The shorter the wig, the longer it will last.
