Haven't attended one yet, but have been thinking about it since diagnosis in may. There's something nice about the anonymity of online support such as this and the one on NAAF. I'm sure in time I'll make the effort to find a group in my city.
I contacted the NAAF about a support group in my area because I really wanted to meet and spend time with others like myself. But when I called the "local" people for my area, they said they really didn't meet anymore due to lack of interest. Maybe Kathryn is right; people may just feel more comfortable with the anonymity of an online support group. I hope someday to go to one of the NAAF conferences to have that experience of being with and meeting face to face and talking with other alopecians. I wish there was a social gathering group in my area though.
