Hello, I just joined this site, I can so relate to you. I turned 50 last year too, and all my hair feel out this Feb. along with my eye brows and eye lashes. I do not have any hair anywhere on my whole body. I miss my long eye lashes and having to pluck my full eyebrows as much as the hair on my head. I have several wigs and have not gone to a store without one yet. I don't know if I will ever get there. This really is hard to accept.
Hi Sharon,
I too lost all my hair at 50.
I wonder if its a harmonal embalance?
I have lots all hair.
But I am accepting it.
I have a great family who supports me.
My husband is so wonderful.
He said he didn't marry my hair he married me.
We had been married for 33 yrs.
Just remember your inter beauty is given to you and let it shine.
You are a wonderful person.
I read these emails and I can see the exact same things and have the same feeling as everyone on here. It has helped we to come to grips with what is going on. And it gives hope that maybe some day it will all come back .
Thanks to all of you for helping me,
Thanks Sharon...!You are very beautiful and your face shows you are a very sweet person. I´m a quite shy and weak person who cares a lot about waht peolpe say..
Hi Sharon. Nice to hear from you. I lived in Norwich for a year, 1989-09, and have fond memories of that time.
This is a journey, like anything in life. A day at a time is the only way to do it. I'm in such a different place about this than I was just a year ago.
Stay in touch with us...this AW community has been such a wonderful support and resource.
Hello and welcome, Sharon!
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) You can find out more on my page -- and it's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf." Let me know if there's anything else I can do!

I myself am new to the site. I have had AT for the past 20 years. I just wanted to come through and say hello. Yes, there are days that aren't easy but there are plenty more when they are. I love the wig you have on in the pic it goes so well with your face. :-) keep smiling
Hi Sharon,
I enjoy reading Nora Roberts, Charlaine Harris and Heather Graham. Amanda is starting to lose more hair at the top of her head just this past week. I have an appt for the derm next week. Hopefully he can recommend something. She has a very positive attitude about everything which I am grateful for.

My friends and family tried really hard too to be supportive but no, they cannot know what it's like. That's why this site is so great. This type of stuff wasn't around when I started losing my hair. Thanks for the friend add. Let's do keep in touch.
Hey Sharon,
I lost all of my hair starting in January as well. I am now losing all hair everywhere. I have never had alopecia in my life. I think it does get better. I think each day we need to make a concious effort to not let alopecia slow us down. I know for me, I went through hell and I'm back!!! Yeah, this sucks but I'm grateful for so much else in life, I still consider the cup half full, as much as possible. There are crappy days, but life goes on. You will feel fabulous again...you look fantastic!!! Cheers and smile for you.
Hi sharon,
I am okay. Just getting ready for the summer. We have alot planned. I look forward to reading as well this summer. What authors do you enjoy?
