Lee, That's great! I think you're going to love the area. I think you'll find that you've got convenient access to so many things there and there are tons of beautiful spots in the area. Enjoy!
Hi Lee,
I like Crystal City. Lots of great restaurants and shopping. It's convenient to the Metro so you can get anywhere from there. It's clean and safe and has lots of park like settings and jogging paths to enjoy. It's also convenient to places like Pentagon City and Roslyn which also are also full of shops and restaurants. Definitely worth checking out!

Hi Lee,
I don't know when you sent this friend request because I haven't been on for a while. but I will be coming back here more frequently!! Where are you from, how long have you had Alopecia?
Lee, you are between & rock & hard spot. Your problem is this, yes you have insurance, they cover only $500.00 of your wig/cranial prosthesis. It is at this point all insurance companies will come back with the standard reply, it is your responsibility to know what is covered & is not. They can be really cold about it to. I have found out the hard way the importance of doing your home work.
Your lucky at least your insurance covers wigs. Sadly systems out there are really expensive. The ones I have looked into, my husband & I can't afford at this time.
We have started saving & I'm hoping within a year or so I can look into a really good system.
You hang in there, check to see if there are programs you qualify for, something that might pick up the balance after insurance pays .

Hi Lee, Please don't give up, I understand the fight though.
With Medicare appeals you can have an attorney but I am doing this on my own. I was a paralegal for County of Riverside, my expertise are criminal law. But I am giving it a huge go & presenting on my own doing lots of homework. Hang in there. There is a wig place here in southern ca, World of Wigs in Tustin, they make wigs there & they have a program where you can sign up & people can donate to your wig, its really cool.
I will let you know what happens.
Hi! I saw a comment you made on a post inviting people to look at the inside of your vacuum wig. I heard that they are heavy and really hot. I wanted to know your take since you live in NYC and I'm in Long Island. Thanks.
I know this alopcia thing can be tough but together we can make it a whole lot better.
My Partner Leo is also a musician. More of a recording artist but is in 3 bands too. The last songs are on my page are Leo's. Check it out.
Hugz,
oh Lee...just talking to Jackie on your page....so you down with all the fun..of going without the wig..if not for a day on bald out day!yey!I have tried it all every rememdy you can come up with..forget it..it doesn't change a thing.
Just love yourself and the rest will find a way.
I wore a bandana to bed for 6 years, when I got married many many years ago....and it was no fun.
The day came when in 1982..that makes me part of the archives!
When I took the bandana off and faced my true self and the World.
So Jackie..did you walk without the wig?
Bet you didn't look like two cantaloupes.
Bet ya "NOT"
Bet you will feel the air on your head and thank yourself for coming out!
"YiPPeeeeeeeeeee"
LETS ALL GO WITHOUT.....JACKIE CAN COME ALONG TOO.
WISH i WAS WITH YOU GUYS TO TAKE THE PLUNGE.
I'd be there to support anyone who is scared..cause I have gone without for an eternity!
Man...it's not to bad..it was worse in the 80s' when you would get ".........."Oh...I'm not going to tell you...cause it ain't the 80's anymore and when you go out now...look directly at the person who is looking at you too...and smile!
Remember...you got to stand strong and tall...gotta be self assured and assertive.
Cannot let them see your fright...oh no!
Believe me..you will feel liberated.....................
You are Beautiful....yes you are!
Serious??? Do you really think you are ready to do the skin-thing??? I won't lie, I am VERY nervous!!! I've never taken off this mask in 34 years...You and I will look like a couple of cantaloupes walkin' down the road! Lol (gotta keep a sense of humor)..but, if you're ready then so am I!!! You'll be my inspiration.
OMG....an AU sister in NY! I wish I could spend the rest of the day obsessing over alopeciaworld, but I'm at work (in Manhattan), so as soon as I get a free minute I will read your bio. Soon, I hope. Thanks for responding to my cry for friendship!!! Lol.
