Hi Nancy, I've just discovered your comment from 2010. I'm sorry not to detect it sooner. I hope you're feeling great and enjoying everything around you. :)
So good to hear from you, and it has been ages! I'm bald as ever and like you, rarely go out without my wig, the exception being when I'm driving on the highway wearing a floppy hat until the destination is reached. Then the wig goes back on:). It's hot here now too!
My husband, Don, died in April of 2011, after battling severe emphysema for almost 8 years. This year after joining a Madison social group for widows and widowers, a couple of gentlemen came into my life. It's been a challenge with the wigs (mine being a Freedom wig, also expensive) but the one I've decided to continue seeing is extremely supportive.
I miss everyone. We have an active group forming in the Milwaukee area but every one has been when there's been a conflict here...grrrr. I started a group on Alopecia World called "Alopecians in Wisconsin" which I hope will help others in the area.
Stay in touch; I hope the husband and dog are still doing well.
Hi Nancy,
I just worry all the time about her fitting in. Every mom wants their child to be accepted. I am just afraid she wont be. She knows she is loved and she feels good about herself. I will pray for the best. I will definitely keep you posted.
Tracy
Nancy, wanted to make sure and tell you how proud I am of you! We took a big step yesterday that took a huge amount of courage and self-confidence. I'm glad you were there to share it with me too!
Thanks, for letting me know about NBO Sunday. Sorry for the delayed reply, I haven't been on in a while as the kids were out of town with their grandmother. We think we can make it for NBO Sunday. Best to you and yours.
hi nancy! see you tomorrow for happy hour? Since there was no group preference, I decided on San Felipes Cantina- after 4:30 or whenever you can get there! More details on our event page, dont know if you saw it... PP
HI NANCY!!!!!
How have you been? I've missed you!! How's your sister? I was wearing one of the bandanas she gave me the other day and it made me think of you and how much I miss everyone. I wasn't able to go to the conference this year because I had to cancel last minute due to my daughter being in a car accident. She's recovering slowly but surely. I saw your pic on Felicia's profile and I was so excited!!! It's nice to see you here. Hope all is well with you and your family. Love and miss you much!!!
Love and Hugs,
Dotty
I'm trying to set up meeting for a few different places for the Desert Diva's to venture out to one weekend, but I want to get a good feel from the places before I set up a day for us. It has been too hot to go out on the weekends...but I will hit a few someplaces this weekend to start. I'll keep you posted. :)
Hi Congrats on the new family member. It's so great to have little ones around again, isn't it??!! :o) Maltese are wonderful - loving, playful companions. I haven't experienced Shitzus personally, but have friends who are crazy about theirs. Sounds like a nice mix! Thanks for the bday wishes too!
Wow, I see you decorated! Nice. I can't beleive the response we are getting so far! I have had four poeple call me already who have received their flyers in the mail about the meeting. I expect to hear from more poeple the rest of the week. I was thinking about doing a fundraiser straight-away. I really want us to have some funds to be able to do stuff like help someone get a good quality wig, sponsor a trip to the next NAAF conference, do a family BBQ, etc.......... There are so many possibilities. So do you have any ideas for a fundraiser? I was going to ask the group what they thought about doing a Home Interiors fundraiser by selling candles. Half of the sales go directly to our cause. And who doesn't like candles?! Yvonne also mentioned that we can contact local businesses and tell them about us, and ask if they would be willing to make a donation. That sounds great too. I'm really excited about our first official meeting. I just want to see what everyone thinks and what other great ideas we can think up. I think that if we can have a vision and goal for our group, we will be able to sustain. I can't wait to see you again! Take care, and see you soon, Sarah
Hi Nancy, hope you've been well. I am nearing the end of the spring quarter and am soooo relieved. I don't know what we will discuss at the next meeting. I would email Sarah...see ya soon!
Hi Nancy, I'm so happy to hear you can relate to my story...it means you have amazing things happening in your life too. ;o) I am jealous that you have been to the NAAF conference. That is on my list of lifetime goals.
And of course, thank you for complimenting my baby girl again. I'm so crazy about her - it's been such a long time since I've had a pet and I am astounded at how much I love this little creature! :o)
Hi Nancy! So how are you doing? I hope all is well. I'm so loving my new hair! So how did your new style work out for you? Have you thought about going back to Brandy's for the other wig you liked? It was so nice on you. I'm excited for our next meeting. I'm going to take a wig of the style that I used to wear. It's really long and curley! I can't beleive I wore it for so long! I had the same style since I was 13. Can you beleive it! I got stuck in a rut.
