Comedienne and alopecia patient Georgia Van Cuylenberg will come to the Feldheym Library downtown on April 17th as part of our Script Frenzy celebration. She will talk about her life as a comedy writer, her transition from standup to screen and documentary writing, and her landmark documentary "Baby Let Your Hair Fall Down", about her battle with alopecia. Trenia, Iam so happy you responed back.Im sorry your family wasnt understanding of the alopecia. I would luv to exchange phone numbers. I am looking for new friends.(exspecially with alopecia)Because i recently lost a long time friend,that found it amusing to make fun of my alopecia .I had to let her go!!!!!!! I know what you mean about the Christmas shopping. I sometimes feel like tearing my hair out. Some people are just hard to buy for. Littlies are the easiest because they love everything don't they?

Wow - what a woman you are! You are an inspiration :-) All the very best with your studies. I know you will do very well - and how rewarding it will be for you. I think helping other people is admirable and it takes a special person to be a social worker. Just down your alley I think.
Jon is going well. He agreed to enrol in another school for next year. He decided to do that this week, so I took him on Monday to see the principal and today we went and got his uniforms. His friend that he has been doing things with lately goes to this school. Jon seems to be very happy with his decision. It is certainly a step forward for him at the moment.
Because Jon is happier I am more relaxed and thankful that he is trying to dig himself out of the hole that he has been in for the last 6 months.
Thank you very much for your prayers. I believe in the power of prayer and I believe that is why Jon is moving forward - because of yours and other's prayers.
Our prayers are with you and your new endeavour. Our thoughts and prayers are with your sister as well and hope that she is travelling well. I hope that all your family are well.

I think it's a great place. I basically came here to help others who are going through difficulties, because after having AU for 30 years, being spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and writing a book about alopecia, I'm in a position to be supportive. Wow! You must be very proud of your children. They are a credit to you.
I can understand how you must feel for Ariel. At least she is still in Highschool - good on her. It's all too easy to stay home with your child and not look out for yourself so I am glad that she is looking out for herself as well. I guess that is your influence there. I guess it would be important to you for her to finish High School.
I have four children. Naidene, 21, just finished her Bachelor of Music, Composition. She is moving out early next year and going to do a Diploma in Audio Engineering. Breanne, 20, is living in Brisbane and has just finished her first semester at University doing an Arts/Law degree. Nick, 18, has just finished High school. He is going to stay home and work around our home town next year while he decides what he wants to do. He will probably look at doing a trade. Then there is Jon - 13 and supposed to be in his first year of High School. Had a good start to the year but this last half he hasn't gone to school. We have just got him to agree to see a Counsellor and we hope things will get better from here.
I haven't any grandchildren yet. The girls say they aren't ready for that yet. Somehow I think that Nick's partner may be the first - we'll see.
I work part-time at a preschool so I get the opportunity to coddle little ones. Though I have had to take leave to be home with Jon.
I am sure that Mekalah and Myles are a wonderful addition to your family. You have certainly done a good job raising your family - you should feel very happy with yourself. I like the names you chose too.
I am so glad that i have had the opportunity to be a member of AW and 'meet' people like yourself.

We hope that you and your family have a Blessed Thanksgiving. We will continue to pray for your sister, that she may overcome her cancer and be able to live a normal healthy life.

I am sorry to hear about your sister. And that your children's father left you to raise them on your own. You certainly have alot to deal with at the moment.
You may not have finished high school, you may be on your own to support your kids, you may not have had loving people arouund you telling you you are special. But you know what? You ARE SPECIAL. You haven't run out on your kids - therefore you are a fantastic mother. You have your kids who i am sure love you for who you are. You might be in this situation but i can tell that it will not stop you from being the best person that you can be even without a high school education. We all have our roles to play in this life. I think being a mother of 4 children is one of the most important roles.
I must say also that i really appreciate your advice to myself and Jon and for sharing some of your story. By doing that can you see how special and important you are to people - especially us.
And you know what else - you are allowed to feel cheated. Yes it isn't as bad as cancer but it is still something that you have to deal with. You can feel bad about it but if you can also move on from that I take my hat off to you. (Now who is getting emotional? It is a very emotional subject)
