About Me:
My name's Greg, I'm 26. I have Alopecia Universalis. I lost my mom in September of 2010 to lung cancer. The following January, I started finding a dozen or so hairs on my pillow when I'd wake up. It went on like this for a couple weeks or so and I just assumed I was going bauld, like some guys around my age. As that continued, I would find more and more hair on my pillow and even more falling out when I'd wash my hair. My girlfriend at the time went on the web with my symptoms and found out I had alopecia. I went to the doctor's not too long after and found out she was right. After about a month or so of buzzing my head with clippers, I just went for it and start bucking my head. There was nothing left. I lost my eyebrow, my eye lashes, nose hairs, everything. ...except my armpit hair for some reason. Once it was all gone, I was devistated! Confidence didn't just get cut down, it was thrown out the window. I've always been a very social guy with tons of friends, but it wasn't the people I would meet that I felt uncomfortable around but the ones that I knew the best. Everyone thought I was sick with cancer or something. I was in a social slum.

Then one day, my aunt (my aunt's the best!!) told me all about when she was in the pits when my uncle lost his job and they were facing loosing their house. She told me she got out of her depressed state by taking it one day at a time. She saiid to start your day by finding anything, ANYTHING, big or small that you're thankful for or happy about and think of it all day. It could be That great deal I found on vector cereal or finding 50 bucks after cleaning my garage. The fact that you have a great dog that loves you unconditionally or the shelled peanuts that have 3 nuts instead of 2. You can find anything to be thankful for or happy about!

It's been about a year now and I have patches of hair on my scalp, areas of scruff on my face, and the odd eyebrow hair that I trim down cause just one is wierd. :) it's on it's way back though!!

It's my belief that it's ALL mental. Be positive!! Put a smile on. Better yet, put a smile on someone else's faces and it usually acts a mirror, bouncing it back to your face! :)

I really hope this helped anyone who took the time to read my little tail. Stay positive my friend! :D
