I have been suffering with Alopecia Areata and Vitiligo (skin disorder) since the 5th grade. I fought the battle of the Alopecia after years by using cortizone treatments (I thought my battle was over) I learned to except my skin disorder and move on. After having my daughter my hair started falling out again, I chose nursing over the cortizone. NOW the alopecia areata is spreading so fast, If I lift up my hair 1/2 of my hair is gone with just little patches here and there. I have been doing cortizone for the last 8 months and I'm seeing no results. I'm losing my mind, I don't want to be an embarrassment to my kids.

Hey there, I got your comment on my profile, I apologize for responding back so late, I didn't notice the comment notification in my email.
Anyways, the skin condition I have is eczema, different from vitiligo. The reason i mentioned the treatment( and I discussed this with my dermatologist) that any attempts to remove hair, like waxing or using nair or any of those things on my scalp, may exacerbate my skin condition. Anyways hope things are alright for you.
Hello and welcome, Lania!
I know how hard it can be. I have had alopecia for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" It might make you feel better. You can find out more on my page -- and let me know if there's anything else I can do!
