I found myself with alopecia in 1991 and was shocked to find a lot of hair in the drain from my shower and I thought it wasn't mine. When I combed through my hair, I saw a white spot and thought it was a spot of white hair! Ultimately my beautician diagnosed my alopecia. I've been able to look at the humor in it all -- for a while I had to shave under one arm, my pubic hair fell out right away and didn't return, I had a few hairs on the inside of one ankle for a while but I easily pulled them out with my fingers and haven't seen them since! I had my eyebrows tattooed but they need to be done again. The hair on my head comes and goes so I've worn wigs most of the time since I've had the disease. Early on, I did have some scalp shots which only caused more stress so it continued to grow in and fall out so I quit. I am just thankful that I didn't have cancer again to cause my hair loss! I have been single since 1966 and it would be nice to meet a man for a relationship but the hair thing stops me!
