- Hi, I am 58. I was about 54 when I first noticed I had Alopecia Areata. Saw my doctor, but it went away within 6 months. Not to show again until October 2014.It has now grown to about 5 small to fairly large spots all in back of my head so far. Seems to be my hair is thinning in some other spots also. Very frustrating. I have a nice lot of thick hair normally.
