I have just learned that my daught has alopecia. I am very concerned and I hope to fine help and support for her. She had the Mirena IUD removed a few weeks ago after having it in for about one year. She has been experiencing hair loss for the last five months. She realized the cause may be the IUD.

Deedee, I'm so sorry your daughter is having such a hard time. I know that you want to help and don't know how. From what I know about burning scalp syndrome caused by alopecia, the only way doctors know how to treat it is with antidepressants. I know that's not what you wanted Here's some information.http://www.ehow.com/about_5447789_burning-scalp-syndrome.html.Many blessings...
