- I am 38 yrs old, i first was diagnoised with alopecia when i was 29yrs old after a thyroidectomy surgery due to thyroid cancer, shortly after the procedure i started losing clumps of my hair, and seeing half dollar sized bald spots in my hair,I quickly seeked an appointment with a dermotologist, he very politely stated to me, "This is incurable, theres nothing you can do, it just happens, and buy a wig
