Dear Sonya me

I have had alopecia totalis since I was 5 years old. Life has been very hard for me, I too was raised that hair loss was a disease and my mother hid me from many of her friends and family. I did not look like my other sisters, who are beautiful and have gorgeous hair. Growing up in the 80's where hair was the biggest topic for teenagers, most of the school knew of me or knew that I had no hair and would always pick on me. As I stood in front of the high school bathroom mirrors gathered around with other teenage girls, they would complain that they hate their hair or wish they had a better haircut. Deep down inside I was wishing I just had hair. Every night I would go to bed and my last prayer of the night was to wake up with a head full of hair. Well 40 years later I still pray for the same thing. It is a very emotional disease and the support of this organization and strong parents will help get a young girl through this with a positive attitude. Wish I had this type of support group when I was young, it would of changed my life.

its your big day and always will. one doesnt require hair to enjoy life and for enjoying it to the fullest you dont have any particular age. so have a blast and keep cherishing the life the way it unfolds.
