The View upset quite a few members of Alopecia World this week. After announcing that the newly crowned Miss Delaware Kayla Martell has alopecia areata, the show's hosts veered into a discussion about whether black or white women look better bald! After viewing this controversial clip, please share your thoughts. If you would like to send feedback directly to the View, go here.

This is so absolutely stupid

Idk, there are men and women who I guess don't have the ideal shape head for baldness, so for those who choose to go bald there can be comments on who looks good or not. But for us with alopecia, it is not a choice. We have no control over whether or not we lose hair just as we don't have control over our head shape. But, really the underlying question is who cares if one is bald or not. Don't talk mess either way. You don't know who chose to and who didn't. Just watch what you say...

All I will say is the same thing I've always told my children...consider the source. It is unfortunate this forum (The View) wasn't used to increased the awareness of alopecia. They missed a golden opportunity.

I'd say these women had absolutely not a clue what they were talking about.... Shame on them for not doing any research on Alopecia......

I have Alopecia universalis. I don't get it. I wasn't offended by the video. These are people who don't understand anything about the condition, and can't really be blamed for that. How about we just be happy that they brought the issue of Alopecia into the spotlight and introduced the condition to millions of people who had never even heard about it before?

Like Craig, I too have AU. I couldn't give a monkeys about alopecia. Most of what they said is true. It's us alopecians that get upset & defensive by it. Don't let it happen to yourselves. I don't.

yes Jean, I agree. But those morons on that show NEVER have any idea of what they are talking about. They aren't qualified for anything. So just take them for what they are.... Just a televised version of a gossip magazine

I honestly believe that at the beginning of the conversation it seemed totally harmless. As they further progressed, it went from the original topic to a matter of opinion. The ENTIRE world knows that these women are nothing but a bunch of cackling chickens surrounding the feed. It makes no difference to me how these particular women feel about baldness. They will never have the honor and priveledge of meeting my beautiful bald daughter. Their opinions on any subject are exactly that, opinions. And their opinions won't keep me and my daughter up at night.

This did kind of offend me, they have no idea, I was really hoping that they would talk about alopecia, because alot of people in the world don't know what alopecia is, and i was hoping this would raise aware of alopecia to people.
