The View upset quite a few members of Alopecia World this week. After announcing that the newly crowned Miss Delaware Kayla Martell has alopecia areata, the show's hosts veered into a discussion about whether black or white women look better bald! After viewing this controversial clip, please share your thoughts. If you would like to send feedback directly to the View, go here.

Wouldn't it be fantastic if they invited Kayla to guest co-host and asked her to go with wig and without wig during the show? THAT would get people talking and would help give everyone who watches the view a new perspective . . .

I think it's wonderful that they had Kayla's picture on and even brought up the word "alopecia" (unfortunately they forgot the "areata") but because this disease lacks the awareness it so deserves to help with research and ultimately, a treatment, I think many were disappointed that the ladies of "The View" had no direction on where to go with it and just gave us some mindless banter. I'm sure no one takes them seriously but just a bit disappointed.

I am a white woman with AU. For the record, I have a very cute little head:). I was not offended by the clip.
I sent the View an e-mail just letting them know they missed out on an opportunity to learn something. But we do need to remember, this is day time TV ! I also let them know my head it cute! and that I would love to come on their show and tell them about AU.

I am not offended. I am not surprised really. I mean, have they ever said ANYTHING on the View that is even remotely informed. I have always assumed that the whole point of the show was to have woman sit around a table and make stupid comments about things they know nothing about while making too much money. I do think they should be more informed before opening their mouths, but that is not just about alopecia. They need to just think in general before they speak.

I actually like that they were talking about it at all. I do think black men look better bald. My feeling is that it goes back to Michael Jordan.

they should all shave their heads and have a telephone poll as to who has the best head view...this show is a complete waste of time

I was not offended. I wanted to be after reading some of the comments on this sight. I did not see the live show I only saw the clip here. While this was a great opportunity for them to let the world know about alopecia, that's not the type of show they have. They are as someone else said a gossip show. They are not really on the air to inform just entertain. We have to be our own voice. When I'm out I will tell anyone that will listen about alopecia. Even those of us that are wearing wigs, it's our responsibility to inform people. As far as the comment about who looks good bald and who doesn't that is all a matter of opinion. I have some people that say I look nice and others that look at me like I'm from another planet. All i say is we are our best advocates.

I feel that 'The View" panel is very uneducated. They should had known what Alopecia is before they start making jokes about someone who has this diease. I felt that they should had gotten information on Alopecia before and also explained what it was.to their viewers first and then go from there if they wanted to.

They were joking. What they should've done is take the airtime and educate more. They are there to entertain the viewers. No big deal. I wasn't offended at all. It was funny actually and its great that it was even mentioned. We have to take things a big more lightly.
