Hi Caitlin and everyone else. I have long been in a quandry about just loving yourself the way you are and others will follow or love you and accept you as you are. Then again, I have also often said that it is a lot harder to love yourself (especially with alopecia) if you have never or rarely been loved by others, first, as well, in return, etc. We are social beings and what people say about us, to us, behind our backs, etc. Penentrates us and often reflects on how we feel about ourselves. As the old saying goes, "no man" (or woman) "is an island." I guess it all has to do with your experiences in life, after all i think that our experiences (mainly those pertaining to our interactions with people) to a large extent, make us who we are.
I am 54, single, have never been married, never had a girl friend or a relationship in my life. I wore a wig for 35 years, which did little or nothing for my social life because it did as much to inhibit me from approaching women as it was supposed to give me courage. I finally took it off about 6 years ago. Now all I get our double takes and stares. If you have found someone that truly accepts you as you are then you are luckier than ever. I have not. Thanks for listening anyways. Mark.

Caitlin,
What a great video. You sure are inspiring. I am almost 60 and first got AA about 2 months ago. You really helped me and I appreciate it so much. Good luck. That is my mom in the picture. She has been an inspiration to me all my life. She passed away in February, but I think of her often. She would definitely help me get through this.

Caitlin, you are beautiful. Outside, inside, upside, heartside. And you are smart. And kind. And funny and generous and delightful to be with. The man who wins your heart will indeed be blessed. I am so grateful to Poppa God for my alopecia. I am stronger and more self-accepting than I have ever been. I am meeting amazing people on this journey. To think I might have gone through life without meeting you and Meg, and Cherl and rj...what a loss that would have been!
