I would like to know how a parent can help a 15 year old girl deal with alopecia. She seems to really struggle lately and I wonder being a step parent what is the best thing for me to do.
Hi Art, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us.
oh and one of the best things that my parents did was bring me to support groups, its different seeing people with it. it makes it so much more accepting
hey, my name is Alyssa, i live in new york and is 17 years old, i have AU and is totally bald. i start my senior year in a few weeks and i totally know what its like to feel like the odd one out.
i would love to be able to chat with your step daughter... i really would love it. maybe through emails or on here. or even on the phone on the days that it very hard to deal with. i know this is an odd introduction and is jumping farther then i can reach but i go to these CAP meeting ( children alopecia project) to talk to kids younger than me about what we all share that no one else does, to tell them that it is okay on what we have. i have a positive approach to this and you can read my blogs to see that.
especially that we are close in age it'll make it so much better to talk too.
please message me back
