Never been happier (or balder!)

Posted on May 14, 2010 at 2:38pm 5 Comments

I've been bald for nearly a month now and I've got to admit...I've never been happier with my appearance! :) I absolutely love the bald look! I was shocked about how good it looked...I was worried that my head would look a bit morphus but it doesn't so that's pretty awesome. I can't believe how easy it is! Completly zero maintainence :) and it's a lot easier than i though to look feminine with no hair :)

I haven't had any problems with people either and very rarely cover it up because I… Continue

Keeping you updated :)

Thought I'd update you after my last blog post...I've been to see the head and she was really nice and said she's going to breif the staff properly at the next meeting. She even said that if I wanted to shave it i could and i wouldn't have any opposition from any of the staff...and even my mum's come round to it!! we're gonna do it tomorrow morning!! I'm so excited!! :) I'll post pics tomorrow of my first bald day out!

I'm sorry my condition doesn't suit the dress code!

I have been informed this week that my parents and i have got to have a meeting with the headteacher at my school because I refused to take my hat off in a lesson, even though I've had special permission to wear a headscarf/hat for about a year. I couldn't believe it! I'm being punished for wearing a hat..I don't want to wear it! If I didn't have to then I wouldn't...it's hot and it's itchy but they'd complain even more if I walked around with my patches hanging out! This is basically just a… Continue

I want to be remembered...

Posted on April 18, 2010 at 6:13am 5 Comments

In the (what seems like never ending) endeavour to convince my mum to let me shave my head she said she was worried because hair is symbol femininity and she doesn't want me to lose that. But that got me wondering...pondering if you will over society.

I don't want to be remembered for my hairstyle! I believe that femininity isn't skin deep. Women should be remembered for their ideas, intellect and their creativity. I go out in the evening to the bars and the clubs and I see women… Continue

Oh yeah, Keeley and feel like we're connected because we both like English Language Arts and Media Studies. I went to Hunter College here in NYC/US and got my degree tons of yrs. ago in English Language Arts where I studied communications, film studies, writing and philosophy. Was a sportswriter on my college paper and freelanced on local papers here in NYC. I also started my own paper years ago called "Women In Sports on the West Side". Did all of this while having the alopecia. I had areata and now I have totalis after having my one son and then twin sons. Anything can be accomplished with alopecia Keeley, you just have to be in the right environment. Only 4 months I started going to a support group and now started one of my own called "The Alopecia Motivational Get-Together" every month and it brtings us all together, whoever wants to come. You are from Lincolnshire and I bet someonenearby has it too. What towns are near you. Get back to me.

Thanks, i love my wigs too :) The are just so much fun! I love busting out a short wig and then a long wig and confusing the heck out of people. I swear the security guard at my condo must think my bf has like 2 or 3 girlfriends hahaha. (Or at least it's much funnier to me if they thought so. )

Well, I'm still watching Naruto Shippuden and Bleach even though (especially for Bleach) there can be so much filler!! Can be frustrating. I loved Nana, the first Fullmetal Alchemist, Trinity Blood, Samurai Shamploo, Peach Girl, plus more I'm sure...I just can't think of all of them now. what about you?

Singapore is a lovely place, such a nice change from Canada! I spent the last 10 years in Vancouver, Canada so it's little bit odd being back in Singapore because I almost feel like a tourist in my home country. If you ever make a trip out this way, let me know!! :) Hugs
