Oh dear you are priceless!!! Thanks for your comments. I feel like I should be paying you. Is there anything I could try or do I accept this as inevitable? Its has been longer than 2 years since I lost so much hair. In order for me to look my best I do weave it and I realize I have less and less hair.

I wish I could stop it or at least curtail it.

Thanks again for your advice.

P.S: those places where I can get great African american wigs would be ideal. As I am in the Caribbean my hair dresser is charging a pound and a crown for the weave/wigs. I just figured if I could buy my own online I would say alot.

I know I have taken advantage of your generosity in that you have responded expediently all the time. Thank you.

Well, I have some resources in the back where you can get African-American type wigs -- there are some really cool ones out there. Otherwise, the conditions that cause your particular alopecia are the same that cause it in other kinds of hair.

I would suggest that you avoid styles that pull the hair tight, such as tight braids. This can cause traction alopecia, a hair loss condition caused by damage to the hair follicle by constant pulling or tension over a long period. It often occurs in persons who wears tight braids, especially "cornrows" that lead to high tension, pulling and breakage of hair.

Traction alopecia is reversible if diagnosed early, but may lead to permanent hair loss if it is undetected for a protracted period. Hair loss is often in the frontal and temporal regions, but also depends on the hair style. With those who wear cornrows, the area most commonly affected is that adjacent to the region that is braided.

Do you have traction alopecia (when you wear your hair too tight and it falls out)? What did your doctor say?
