I am an almost 30 year old Mum. Lost 90% of my hair after having my son Max. Over the past year I have had some success with regrowth. I am enjoying wearing synthetic wigs now - and have a new outlook on life and what really matters. I am a stronger person because of alopecia. I dont hide the condition - but find it easier in my work life wearing a wig and am having fun with it!!! As long as I am wearing a smile - its all good!
Well- my hair grew back- it stayed for over a year, now it's all gone again! Very disheartening! But easier to deal with second time around!
I now have 2 beautiful boys- maybe my body doesn't like being pregnant? (now I am reaching)
I haven't visited this site since my hair grew back- trying to ignore the possibility of it going again perhaps?!
Hope u are all still here?!
Wondering if there are any alopecians in my new home town of Wagga Wagga Australia?! How would I go about finding out wether it's worth starting a support group?
I think I remember meeting you at the coffee thing! You did run off pretty quickly - but I understand - can be overwhelming meeting all these crazy bald people at once :c) Especially in a public place.
Hope to get a chance to talk to you at the next meeting.
when you say you washed your wig... did you use normal shampoo and conditioner?... or did you get special wig shampoo and conditioner...
cos using the normal stuff will make it go all crappy....did you check out that wigs online site?... the synthetic wigs they have on there are incredible!...
just saw Tim's member page!!!!! I saw what he wrote - made me get a big lump in my throat... arn't we lucky - my husband is very like Tim in how he helps me be strong and cope with this...

Hi Martina
Congrats on you upcoming wedding, its so exciting.
I live in Toowong, and have only been in Brissie and Australia actually for 8 months. Originally from South Africa. My partner and I had our civil marriage service on the 11th of Aug last year, and having our big fat Greek wedding, on the 3rd of May in South Africa. We split the 2 to try and accommodate my family and his and to save up for a nice wedding. So our wedding days are very close ...
My alopecia story is my sister. She has had alopecia (eventually became alopecia universalis) since the age of 14 (she is also on this site - Nektaria), and I am here in support of her, and all others who have the condition.
Where are you having your wedding? Have you decided on a colour theme?
You look great in your profile pic:)

I think it is great. We need family on the site! Everybody has input to offer and the more input we have the more choices we have. Thanks! Cheryl
